Volume 37 of the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (JCISON) presents five contributions that advance statistical theory, methodology, and application across classification, survey sampling, experimental design, process monitoring, and mathematical epidemiology.

The first article develops a parameterised Modified Exponential Discriminant Analysis framework that improves numerical stability and classification of high-dimensional data through adaptive scaling. The second proposes an improved optional randomised response technique for sensitive quantitative surveys, achieving greater estimation efficiency while explicitly recognising the associated privacy–efficiency trade-off. The third evaluates third-order Box–Behnken designs using quantile dispersion graphs, boxplots, and numerical efficiency measures, identifying augmented fractional Box–Behnken designs as offering the strongest overall prediction capability. The fourth introduces ridge-regularised multivariate coefficient-of-variation control charts for high-dimensional processes under localised contamination, demonstrating improved stability and disturbance detection through simulations and a breast-cancer application. The final article applies a temperature-dependent Kumaraswamy–Weibull model to malaria transmission in Nigeria, providing improved representation of transmission heterogeneity and more precise intervention timing.

Collectively, these studies demonstrate the breadth of contemporary statistical research and its capacity to address complex methodological and practical problems across diverse domains. Together, they underscore JCISON’s commitment to publishing rigorous, innovative research with clear relevance to scientific inquiry and decision-making.
